Sunshine Tour Championship Changes 2024
SHOW JUMPING
There’s been a tweak to the grouping of the show jumping classes, and those of you who have read the 2024 Restrictions (obviously, that’s everyone!) may have already noticed the change.
To simplify and clarify the groups of classes, there are now only 3 groups:
- Mini Tour from lead rein up to 45cm
- Small Tour 50cm to 75cm
- Grand Tour 80cm to 1m.
The Trophy Tour which previously included 1.05m championship, is no longer featured. If you qualify at 1.05m, in line with our usual 5cm tolerance rule, the qualification is valid for the 1m championship.
Other classes being considered include a Grand Prix, which is likely to be a handicap class (i.e. mixed height) and a County Cup. Details to follow…
NEW! Keep a careful note of your qualification codes because this year they will indicate the height that you qualified at and can then only be used to enter the appropriate height championship.
EVENTERS CHALLENGE
No news is good news, the super popular eventers challenge series from 50cm to 90cm remains unchanged. Although we’re waiting to see what fantastic new fences Hickstead are introducing this year that will make the course even more fun than before!!
Due to the popularity of this fun discipline, some qualifier centres are running 40cm and 45cm classes. If you qualify at this height, you can still take part at the Sunshine Tour, just be aware that you’ll be stepping up to 50cm for the championship class.
NEW! Keep a careful note of your qualification codes because this year they will indicate the height that you qualified at and can only be used to enter the appropriate height championships.
DRESSAGE
You may have heard that British Dressage are introducing new tests this year, and eventually will cease using the ‘old’ tests. This year you can qualify from any BD dressage test, current or new and we will offer a selection of both at the championships. You do not have to compete in the same test at the championship as your qualification, only the same level (or above). As before, qualifying tests can be official Riding Club or Pony Club tests.
NEW! Your qualification codes will indicate the level that you qualified at, e.g. Intro, Prelim Novice, Elementary. Each code will allow you to enter that level of championship (or above), so it’s super important that you keep a note of which code relates to which qualification!
