News, What’s On & Timetable – Sunshine Tour Showing 2022

Friday features training and preparation classes and includes The Showing Register talent spotting for TSR Amateur Rider & Handler of the Year 2023. And, for the first time there will be competitive championship classes on Friday – The Novice & Newcomer In-Hand Showing and The Novice & Newcomer Ridden Showing championships. As an introduction in 2022, these classes are open to qualified and unqualified combinations.

Showing Series
With so many classes to choose from, here’s a helpful (hopefully!) guide to the groups of championships we offer:

The Fun & Versatile Showing Championships are for, well as it says – those just wanting to have fun! This set of championships includes an in-hand class, a ridden option, a turnout class, fun lead rein rider equitation, family horse & pony, riding club horse and pony club pony. No specialist showing tack or clothing is required and some classes can be assisted in the ring.

The Starters & Junior Championships are for juniors and adults just starting out in showing. There’s turnout, in-hand and ridden classes – ridden sections are walk & trot only, with a set pattern to help you with your individual show.

Novice & Newcomer Championships are for those who are novice combinations or just getting into the wonderful world of showing. Classes follow the usual showing format and turnout is traditional but doesn’t have to be ‘posh’! Obviously restricted to novices, with a limited number of previous showing wins. There’s In-Hand Showing, Ridden Showing, Working Hunter, Working Hunter Pony, Lead Rein and First Ridden Championships in this series.

Equitation Championships are all about the rider, including Best Rider, Junior Handler and Lead Rein Equitation.

Grand Tour championships feature a range of ‘traditional’ classes, including Lead Rein, First Ridden, Working Hunter, Working Hunter Pony, Veterans and for the various breeds and types, there’s an In-hand and Ridden Championship, divided into horse and pony sections.

All competitive classes offer chances to go forward to a Supreme Championship, and of course lots of fabulous rosettes, sashes and rugs to win 😊
